A reclusive billionaire dies at 104. Her assets include a bunch of New York apartments, a meticulously upkept California mansion, at least one Monet and a vast collection of antique dolls. Oh, and she barely left the gaff for half a century. Sounds bizarre? That's not even the half of it...
In this highly unreliable, semi-fictional miniature epic, Karen McCarthy Woolf (re)imagines a world where the dolls spill all. Dive into a world of characters who take us across timelines in Top Doll – a story of love, betrayal, Barbies and ultimately, what it means to be human.
BORN::FREE brings you this interdisciplinary launch event which sees an author we LOVE talking the ting with Karen, interspliced with one-of-a-kind poetic readings from her friends (also award-winning poets, obviously) in response to Top Doll. Copies of the book will be sold throughout the night as well as a DJ set from BORN::FREE's anxious.selecta to set the vibe until 11pm.
Entry permitted throughout the night. Free drink on arrival with a ticket bought in advance between 7pm-8pm only. Very limited tickets available on the door.
Presented by BORN::FREE in association with Dialogue Books and supported by Reference Point.
